Flu is short for influenza, a respiratory infection caused by a virus. We provide flu testing to help your health care provider find out if you have the flu or not. Flu testing is mostly required during certain seasons. It is typically done between October to May.
RSV stands for respiratory syncytial virus. This is a viral infection that typically affects your respiratory tract which includes your lungs, nose, and throat. We provide RSV testing at Ylab180 by taking a swab sample from your nose to check for the presence of the RSV virus that causes symptoms of a respiratory infection. RSV is very contagious and it spreads easily from person to person.
Testing is performed using a modified RT-PCR iAMP Covid-19 Detection Assay. The RT-PCR iAMP Covid-19 Detection Assay has been issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pursuant to section 564 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) U.S.C. #360bbb-3. However, the modified assay used for this testing has not been reviewed by FDA. Pursuant to the requirements of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C. #263a, the performance of this modified test has been validated by Ylab180. It has not been cleared or approved by FDA. The FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary when performed in a CLIA certified laboratory. This test is used for clinical purposes.
